If the BC curriculum is what guides teachers through the planning process, then the Standards for BC Educators is what guides teachers through virtually everything else relating to our profession! Teaching is a highly important job, and therefore teachers are held to very high standards. These standards are our rulebook for how to handle all different kinds of problems we may encounter, as well as what our rules of professionalism and boundaries are. They are also in place so that other members of the community (students, parents, admin, and support staff), know what to expect of us. Ultimately, these standards drive us towards our ultimate goal of being the best teachers for our students.
